Joe has always had a genuine passion for exploration and the water. Being underwater has been natural and comfortable since he was young. Joe has been SCUBA diving since he was a teenager and became a PADI Divemaster in 2005. Joe lives in Wilmington, NC and runs a sales agency in the action sports industry. His company has serviced the mid-Atlantic states for the last 20 years in the surf, outdoor, snow and sports industry. Joe holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business from North Carolina State University. After college Joe served as an Infantry Officer in US Military.
In 2006, Joe and some dive buddies from Wilmington got into spearfishing and freediving. After taking a freediving course in Florida, Joe was immediately hooked on breath hold diving. Joe continued to take advanced level freediving courses, compete in spearfishing tournaments and freediving competitions, eventually becoming a freediving and waterman survival instructor with FII.
Joe's background and experience provides a unique and comfortable learning environment for students of all skill levels. Joe's passion for our sport of freediving shows in his courses and teaching style. Joe teaches the Level 1 Freediver Course, the Waterman Survival Course and the Waterman Survival Extended Course. Joe also offers private courses to groups in locations outside the listed course schedule. Go to www.watermansurvival.com to register for an upcoming course and learn more about the FII training.

# 5143 - Waterman Survival Extended
Taino Divers, Rincon, Puerto Rico
The FII Waterman Survival Extended Course (WSE) combines the L1 Freediver Course, The Waterman Survival Course and an extra ocean day for disorientation training. During this course, students will learn how to freedive properly, understand and apply safety techniques during breath hold training and learn the skills that will allow a breath hold up to 3:00 min and a max depth of 20m/66'. The Waterman Survival part of the training is for anyone who wants to get comfortable underwater during long hold downs and extend the urge to breathe safely and efficiently. This is a 4 day course to allow for more time each day to train and practice new skills. Local dive shop owner and FII trained captain Greg Carson of Taino Divers will host our offshore training aboard their dive boat. Photographer and FII trained freediver Anthony Dooley will be taking photos and video throughout the course. All payments are final and deposit secures spot in the class. Course cost includes all boat fees. This is the ultimate FII experience and the foundation for all advanced courses with FII. Join us in this unique destination course and come train with my crew!
