A New England girl born and raised in Coastal Maine, Mandy moved to Hawaii seven years ago and is living out her diving dream in the warm Pacific waters on Big Island. At the young age of a year and a half, Mandy started her aquatic journey with swimming lessons. By the age of five, she was competing on her local age group swim team in Southern Maine and continued with competitive swimming until College. Little did Mandy know at the time, learning the water very young, would eventually make her United States first World Champion Freediver in history. Mandy started Scuba diving when she moved to Hawaii in 2009. She loved being underwater so much and wanted to challenge herself more so in winter/spring 2014 she took FII Level 1, 2 & 3 and immediately found a new passion. In May 2014, one month after Fii level 1, Mandy competed in her first freediving competition at the Caribbean Cup in Roatan, Honduras. She then achieved the top women's scores at her second freedive competition a month later in June, Kona Paradise 2014 and secured a spot on the USA Freediving Team in Sept 2014. From then on Mandy has traveled the World and competed as a top freediving athlete in the United States. Recently, she became the first US freediver to earn a Gold medal at World Championships in Cyprus, 2015. Mandy is excited to be part of the Fii family and to share her passion for freediving with her students. She is excited to teach, coach and train and help other waterman enjoy the sport, beauty and safety of freediving.
