Every time I slip into the ocean, it's like going home. With every drop of water you drink, every breath you take, you're connected to the sea. No matter wear you live on earth. Most of the oxygen in the atmosphere is generated by the sea. -Sylvia Earle Sandy grew up in Boulder, CO, where as a small child she became infatuated with everything outdoors: water, snow, anything the elements can throw at you. She started swimming competitively in high school and has taught swimming to all age groups. In college, she continued to expand her education by studying Biology and also fulfilled her love of wakeboarding by not only coaching others, but also competing. Later, Sandy moved to Breckenridge, CO to pursue an active lifestyle incorporating snowboarding and biking into her daily routines. In 2015, she was ready for a change both personally and professionally, and moved to Kona, Hawaii to continue to pursue her passion of the outdoors. She got a job as a dive professional and was mentored by the owner to start freediving; starting out as a padi open water diver and has worked towards becoming both a Padi Dive Instructor and Fii Level 1 Instructor. Sandy has continued her education as well working as marine naturals to educate divers about the marine life surrounding them. She loves teaching and seeing the impact she and the environment can make on an individual. Every student she works with she strives to distill knowledge, safety, awareness, as she believes those are the components to a healthy active life style. The sea, once it casts its spell, holds one in its net of wonder forever. -Jacque Cousteau
