Eric has been in and around water all of his life. He grew up in Southern California surfing, swimming competitively and diving. His love for all things water led him down a career path that would keep him submersed for twenty five years. Eric led a rewarding career as a Helicopter Rescue Swimmer for the United States Coast Guard. One of the highlights of his career was leading and instructing at the USCGs only High Risk Aviation Training program Advanced Helicopter Rescue School located at the graveyard of the Pacific. (He is also trained in swift water rescue, is a rescue watercraft operator and high angle cliff rescue technician.) Eric was fortunate enough to spend nine years living in Puerto Rico where he was introduced to F.I.I. He took Waterman Survival Extended Course and the Level II Freediver Courses. After this training, he was hooked and it gave him yet another reason to escape to the water. Freediving has helped him manage many high stress situations he has experienced in and out of the water both professionally and recreationally. He constantly marvels at the applicable skills that F.I.I. and Waterman Survival have bestowed upon him and is extremely passionate about sharing his knowledge with others. Eric has always been able to guide his students out of their comfort zone safely and effectively through his humble and calm teaching style. Eric is STOKED to be part of the F.I.I. Waterman Survival Crew as an instructor! When he is not in the water surfing, kitesurfing, freediving, paddle boarding, or swimming, he is busy training and competing in ultra-endurance events and mentoring his son to become an aqua freak. He also enjoys camping, and traveling with his family.
