Erik Donathan was born and raised in Hawaii with a deep love and respect for the land and ocean. Having grown up surrounded by the water, he began his journey as a spearfisherman, but his passion to explore the deeper depths of the ocean soon led him to discover the art of freediving. In June of 2020, he took his first FII level one course, and from there, he was hooked. As an emergency room nurse, Erik's understanding of human physiology enabled him to excel quickly in the sport of freediving. His dedication to the craft has even led him to compete in international competitions including the world championships. Now, as a freediving instructor, he seeks to share his knowledge and passion with others who share his love for the underwater world. Erik's enthusiasm for freediving is infectious and he is constantly pushing himself to achieve new levels of depth and performance. Whether he's teaching a class or exploring the ocean, Erik is always eager to teach and share his experience with others. This, combined with his love for the ocean and his belief that anyone can freedive, makes him an invaluable resource for anyone looking to explore the underwater world.
